Crypto Shakeup: Binance Exits EU, Circle Stock Falls, Bitcoin Drops Below $59K
Crypto Markets Face Big Changes Today
The crypto world is seeing major shifts.
Binance Leaves the EU Market
New rules called MiCA started on July 1, 2026. Any crypto company that wants to serve people in Europe needs a special license. Binance did not get one. The company stopped new sign-ups, trading, and deposits for users in the EU. Withdrawals are still open for now.
Only about 210 out of more than 3,000 firms got approval. Big names like Coinbase and Kraken made it through. This change means many users in countries like Spain, France, and Italy may move their money to licensed platforms.
Circle Stock Drops After New Stablecoin News
Circle shares fell around 16.5 percent in one day. A group of over 140 companies announced a new stablecoin called Open USD or OUSD. Partners include Stripe, Coinbase, Mastercard, Visa, and BlackRock.
OUSD plans to share the interest earned on reserves with partner companies. This is different from how USDC works now. Circle makes money from reserve interest but pays big fees to Coinbase. The new coin could launch later this year on chains like Base and Solana.
Bitcoin Price Slides Below $59K
Bitcoin is trading near $58,500, down about 2.2 percent in a day. Ethereum sits around $1,573. The total crypto market cap is about $2.11 trillion, down 1.8 percent.
The Fear and Greed Index dropped to 11, showing extreme fear. Money is moving out of crypto and into other areas like AI stocks. Some coins like Polkadot and XRP did better than others.
Other Important Crypto News
The CLARITY Act is facing a vote in the Senate. If it passes, it could bring more clear rules and attract big investors. Delays may keep markets uncertain.

What This Means for Traders
