NYSE and Securitize Launch <24/7 Blockchain Stock Trading> for Instant Settlements
The New York Stock Exchange is teaming up with Securitize to build a new digital platform. This system will let people trade tokenized versions of stocks and exchange-traded funds all day and night. It will also allow instant settlement using stablecoins on the blockchain.
What Securitize Will Do
Securitize will handle the creation and management of these blockchain-native shares. The new platform is called the Digital Trading Platform. It aims to run 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Money moves will use stablecoins, and everything settles directly on the blockchain.
Why This Matters for Investors
NySE Group president Lynn Martin stressed that any new system must keep the trust and safety that investors already expect. Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo added that the goal is to build tokenization inside real market rules. This means keeping strong protections, controls, and smooth operations.
Background on the Project
The NYSE first shared plans for this tokenized venue back in January. The deal with Securitize now fills a key part of that plan. Securitize already runs a blockchain transfer agent system for big clients. One example is BlackRock’s $2 billion tokenized money market fund called BUIDL, which mainly uses Ethereum.
Blockchain vs Traditional Systems
Old transfer agents keep records of who owns securities in central databases. Securitize replaces this with a blockchain system. This change is important because it supports nonstop trading and programmable features that the NYSE wants.
Other Moves in Tokenized Assets
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission recently approved a Nasdaq test program. It lets people trade tokenized versions of popular stocks from the Russell 1000 index and some ETFs. That program still uses traditional market systems through a partner of the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation.
Right now tokenized stocks rank as the sixth biggest part of the $26 billion in tokenized real-world assets. Tokenized treasury debt leads with $11.8 billion. SEC Chair Paul Atkins has talked about the agency’s Project Crypto effort. It wants to help U.S. markets move onto the blockchain.
Looking Ahead
This partnership shows how big traditional finance is moving toward blockchain tools. The focus stays on keeping rules and safety while adding speed and round-the-clock access. As more platforms like this grow, investors may soon see faster trades and new ways to hold stocks on chain.
